Bovet SIHH 2019 Timepiece Releases

Bovet has been at the forefront of Haute Horlogerie since 1812, by utilizing heritage, innovation, emotion, and passion. King Jewelers encompasses of these values in everything we do. Hence why we’re proud to be a trusted retailer of such a prestigious brand. This year, Bovet released a series of new timepieces at the SIHH convention in Geneva, Switzerland. We’re here to inform you with a recap of some of the most noteworthy masterpieces.

Recital 26 Brainstorm Chapter One

To begin, Bovet introduced the Recital 26 Brainstorm Chapter One, R260001 which tests the limits of innovation in the watchmaking industry. First off, the case of this watch is made entirely of sapphire, featuring an inclined facial structure for easier readability. Although we’ve seen sapphire cases before, never with the unique slanted face. Sapphire was an excellent choice because it’s the second hardest material, after diamond, and it weighs less than titanium. The tilted shape of the case made it especially challenging for engineers and technicians to build the movement accordingly.

Bovet specializes in showcasing the mechanics of watchmaking as a form of art. Regulated by a patented double-faced flying tourbillon, this modernized movement now reveals a variable inertia balance for even more precise timekeeping. Building this type of balance wheel is a rare skill that that less than ten watchmakers in the world have properly mastered. The decoration on the bridge carriage takes a minimum of two days to complete alone. We can’t help but admire the rare talents and creativity Pascal Raffy portrays through the unparalleled features of this timepiece.

Special Features:

Case: Dimier, Sapphire with titanium lugs and case-back

Diameter: 48.00 mm

Thickness: 15.50 mm

Dial: Propeller-shaped dial

Strap: full skin alligator

Water Resistance: 30 m

Virtuoso IX Double Time Zone 10-Day Power Reserve Big Date Flying Tourbillon

Next, the Virtuoso IX Double Time Zone 10-Day Power Reserve Big Date Flying Tourbillon, AIVIX001, continues the amazement and enthralls watch enthusiasts. This timepiece features the Tourbillon Amadeo Fleurier Virtuoso IX system. This allows the watch to be transformed into a reversible wristwatch, a pocket watch, and a table clock without any special tools. Intricately organized, the dial of this timepiece reveals a unique, unconventional design. On one side, the minute hand is centered on the dial, while the hour hand rests at two o’clock. At ten o’clock another subdial displays your second timezone with a small window, showcasing the city name. On the right side of the dial, a large date window opposites a power reserve indicator.

On the reverse side of the Virtuoso IX case, we discover the hour and minute hands centered over the entire movement. Essentially, there is no actual dial present, rather a series of negative spaces that reveal the movement. The small opening in the twelve o’clock position introduces a differential spherical winding system that specializes in gathering ten days of power reserve. The timekeeping aspect is regulated by a patented double-faced flying tourbillon. Furthermore, both sides of the watch are feature bold blue, luxuriously contrasting the high-polished red gold case.

Special Features:

Case: Amadeo, 18K red gold convertible case

Diameter: 46.30 mm

Thickness: 16.00 mm

Strap: Full skin alligator

Recital 21 Perpetual Calendar With Retrograde Date

Bovet also released the Recital 21 Perpetual Calendar With Retrograde Date, R210001. Similar to the Recital 26 Brainstorm, This watch depicts the writing slope case design as well. Additionally, this is the first timepiece from the Dimier collection to feature the perpetual calendar. The minute and hour hands on this watch are centered on the small blue dial framed by the date indicator.  Surrounding the dial is a rotating retrograde index that circles the hours and minutes. Not to mention, the day and months appear in vertical apertures resting at twelve and six o’clock. To the left of the hours and minutes, lies a smaller open-faced subdial that indicates seconds with a clear view to the wheel it rotates on. In addition, we admire a leap year indicator located at three o’clock.

On the movement side of the watch, we discover the patented double coaxial seconds mechanism. Not only that, but we also find the power reserve indicator towards the bottom of the back face. The guaranteed five-hour power supply stems from a unique single barrel actuated by a balance spring. Also, this rare design was completed from start to finish in the Bovet 1822 workshops. The surface of this movement reveals the Cotes de Geneve design which looks like parallel curved ribs engraved into the metal. This watch is available in titanium as well as red gold for versatility depending on the style of each collector.

Special Features:

Case: Dimier, 18K red gold ardillon

Diameter: 44.40 mm

Thickness: 15.50 mm

Dial: Blue circular brushed with Cotes de Geneve

Strap: Full skin alligator

Water Resistance: 30m

Recital 23 Moon Phase

The next Bovet watch we wanted to discuss is the Recital 23 Moon Phase, R230008-SD123, which is operated by a self-winding mechanical movement. Featuring the “Fleurisanne” motif, the oscillations from this movement power the two barrels that provide 62 hours of power reserve. Additionally, this oval-shaped hemispherical dome shares a moon phase indicator and a timekeeping subdial at twelve o’clock and six o’ clock respectively. Moreover, the movement built within the “writing slope” case, reveals four complications created specifically for this case-style.

Framed by 22ct diamonds set into 18K gold, the three-dimensional lunar surface of the dial depicts luminescent material in honor of the cosmic energy seen in space. Furthermore, the high-precision mechanism built to regulate the moon phase only requires correction once every 122 years. Bovet has always been passionate about the artistry that goes into each of his timepieces. This one, in particular, requires over 24 hours to complete. The astronomy translated onto the dial not only symbolizes the cosmos but also, seamless integration of artistic creativity and a passion of the celestial world.

Special Features

Case: Dimier, 18K white gold ardillon

Thickness: 14.40 mm

Dial: Aventurine Glass with 10 round diamond indexes

Strap: Full skin alligator

Water Resistance: 30m

Recital 27

Finally, we’re excited to discuss the Bovet Recital 27, showcasing a double hemisphere moon phase indicator at six o’clock. The red gold “writing slope” case houses lateral correctors for the moon phase as well as the date. The minute and hour hands are centered on the dial, while smaller subdials rest at nine o’clock and three o’clock. This timepiece also has a second and third timezone indicator for those collectors who frequently travel. Displaying 24 cities and a day/night indicator, this timepiece sits in a 46.30mm case available in red gold or titanium.
