Breguet Celebrates Tourbillon Day

Breguet has announced that they are celebrating their 219th Tourbillon Day! On June 26th, 1801, the patent for a marquee innovation called a tourbillon, was received by Abraham-Louis Breguet. This brand new concept for watch movements revolutionized the modern standards for precision in timekeeping. King Jewelers admires the innovation of the Motres Breguet Tourbillon and wants to share with you why!

What is a Tourbillon?

A tourbillon is a watch complication that is found in some luxury timepieces. All watches have movements and all movements have something called a balance wheel. The balance wheel generates power for the rest of the watch. Basically, a tourbillon is a balance wheel, placed inside of a cage that rotates around its own axis. The tourbillon assists in keeping precise time by countering the negative effects of gravity on a watch.

We Are Honored to Celebrate Tourbillon Day with Breguet

Without Abraham-Louis Breguet, the watch industry could be vastly different than the way we know it today. The tourbillon has played a huge role in the watchmaking industry and remains one of the most prestigious features on a luxury watch today!
