This week on Collector’s Corner, we try on the creative and minimal 43mm Steel Jaquet Droz Eclipse Onyx at our Nashville location. We are instantly drawn to the carved black onyx dial and the disc at 6 o’clock that works with the moon-phase complication. This timepiece is incredibly beautiful! The aesthetic is classic and understated which allows the delicate details to truly stand out. The intricate details of the smiling rhodium moon is charming and the 8 radiating rhodium-plated star-shaped appliques are borrowed from the Jaquet Droz logo. The rhodium-plated hour, minute, and date hands are all sharp and clean making it very easy to read. The date and day window is found tucked neatly below the Jaquet Droz logo at 12 o’clock. The smooth contrast between the extremely dark onyx and the steel case and appliques works in harmony to give this timepiece a sleek and masculine feel.

This mesmerizing watch is powered by an automatic Jaquet Droz 6553L2 calibre movement that is double barreled with 26 jewels. Not only does this movement power the moon phase complication but also includes an impressive 68-hour power reserve. It’s water resistant to 30 meters and is paired with a black rolled-edge alligator strap and steel pin-buckle that takes this timepiece to another level of cool.
