King Jewelers cherishes the loyalty and longevity of their customer relationships. Recently, the store sold an engagement ring to the son of a customer whose entire family has been shopping at King Jewelers since 1946. “My parents and their parents all purchased their engagement rings here. I couldn’t think of trusting anyone more than the Kings,” said Aventura resident Robert Goldstein.

Since 1912 the company has been family owned and operated. Born in Miami Beach, Scott King literally grew up in his family’s store. Nevertheless, when Scott King went off to college in the late ’60s, he had no intention of going into the family business. After graduating, at his father’s request, he returned to Miami Beach to lend a hand. That was more than 40 years ago, and he has been continuing the family legacy ever since. Scott assumed the role of president in 1986 and has since risen to become CEO and one of the most respected authorities on diamonds, precious stones and estate jewelry in the Southeastern United States. A gemologist, throughout his career, Scott King has dedicated himself and the resources of King Jewelers to the design and manufacturing of diamond, platinum and gold creations that represent the perfect marriage of quality, craftsmanship and value.

For more than 30 years, Scott’s wife, Maxine, has served as the company’s jewelry buyer and current president. Always in search of unique and fashion-forward jewelry creations, Maxine brings the hottest European trends to South Florida before anyone else seems to find it. Maxine has been known not only as a woman of glamour and style but most importantly for the way she makes her clients feel – special. Her friendly smile and warm and bubbly personality makes shopping at King Jewelers a comfortable and fun experience. According to husband Scott, “Maxine puts herself in the client’s shoes and makes them feel comfortable about their purchase.”

Scott represents the fourth generation of Kings to own and operate the family business, and he’s currently watching a fifth generation gain continued success in the business. “I want my sons to be their own men, with the conviction to pursue their own individual dreams; however, I’ve always hoped those dreams would lead them back to King Jewelers. So yes, when David decided he wanted to carry on the tradition, I was thrilled, but I’m not ready to hang up my loop yet.” Following graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Wall Street tour with Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan, David returned to Miami to join the family business.

By 2004, David, currently the Director of Business Development, relocated King Jewelers with his parents to Aventura, FL and opened an exclusive men’s salon and timepiece boutique to compliment the extraordinary ladies jewelry collections. Upon graduating from law school, Jono King joined the family business in 2005, and is now the CFO of King Jewelers.

The King family decided to expand their regional presence in the Southeast as they celebrated the grand opening of a second King Jewelers location in Nashville, TN in late 2008. David King runs the show at the Nashville store, located at 4121 Hillsboro Road in the Green Hills shopping area.

Today the King family continues to work together. Scott, the CEO of the 100-year-old King Jewelers, is the landmark designer and wholesaler of fine jewelry and diamonds for the five generation family run business. Regarded as South Florida’s top appraiser, Scott is the expert gemologist of choice for major insurance companies for replacements and valuations. Included in the prestigious Top 100 Young Executives in the U.S. and Who’s Who of Leading American Executives, he’s the youngest member ever voted into the Diamond Club of Antwerp. He is also a member of the Appraiser’s Associate of America, Independent Appraiser Association of America, American Gem Trade Association, and Diamond Dealer’s Club of Florida, and an affiliate member of the New York Diamond Club.
