She frequents European markets, auctions and antique shows in an adventure that she calls the “continual treasure hunt.” Locke will discover an old button or brooch and transform it into inspiration for a pendant or pair of cufflinks with the help of 35 Thai goldsmiths who are devoted to bringing her ideas to life.

Once she came back and settled in the United States, she became an editor for the Town and Country magazine where she published a segment about shopping in Bangkok. This article turned out to be life-changing and perpetuated her to earning her gemology degree to aid in the rest of her jewelry-making career. In 1998, Elizabeth Locke Jewels was established.
