Louis Erard is an independent Swiss watch manufacture based in Le Noirmont, Switzerland, dedicated exclusively to mechanical watchmaking. The brand is best known for its signature Regulator dial — a historic layout that separates the hour, minute, and seconds displays across different axes of the dial — and for its celebrated limited-edition collaborations with some of the world's most respected independent watchmakers and designers, including Vianney Halter, Alain Silberstein, and Konstantin Chaykin. Unlike many Swiss brands, Louis Erard produces only mechanical timepieces, positioning itself as an accessible gateway into independent haute horlogerie. Louis Erard was founded in 1929 by Louis Erard and André Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, initially as a watchmaking school and case manufacturer. The brand produced its first watches under the Louis Erard name in 1931, eventually growing into a full-fledged manufacturer through the mid-twentieth century. Like many Swiss brands, the company faced significant challenges during the quartz crisis of the 1970s and 1980s. Following a period of dormancy, Louis Erard was relaunched in the early 2000s and relocated to Le Noirmont — the town that now lends its name to one of its signature collections. Under new leadership beginning in 2019, Louis Erard has emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in independent Swiss watchmaking, earning international recognition for its limited-edition artist collaborations, Grand Feu enamel dials, and unwavering commitment to mechanical craftsmanship.
