Benchmark was founded in 1973 by Tom Tosyali, an immigrant from Turkey who arrived in the U.S. knowing only one person — a contact in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the company is still headquartered today. Tosyali built Benchmark around a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, and the brand helped popularize the "Comfort Fit" wedding band design that became an industry standard. His son, A.J. Tosyali, joined the company in 1997 and now serves as Benchmark's president, carrying the family business into its second generation.
