Zenith 2025 Novelties: New Watch Releases

At Watches and Wonders 2025, Zenith celebrated its 160th anniversary with a series of remarkable timepieces that honor its rich heritage while embracing modern innovation. The centerpiece of this celebration is the G.F.J., a watch that pays homage to the brand's founder, Georges Favre-Jacot, and revives the legendary Calibre 135 movement.

Zenith G.F.J.: A Tribute to Precision

The G.F.J. stands as a testament to Zenith's commitment to precision and craftsmanship. This timepiece reintroduces the Calibre 135, a movement renowned for its dominance in observatory chronometer competitions during the mid-20th century. Developed by Ephrem Jobin under the guidance of then-technical director Charles Ziegler, the Calibre 135 secured five consecutive first prizes in the wristwatch category at the Neuchâtel Observatory between 1950 and 1954.

In the G.F.J., Zenith has meticulously re-engineered the Calibre 135 for contemporary watchmaking. While preserving its signature oversized balance wheel and offset center wheel, the movement now boasts a 72-hour power reserve, an enhanced gear train, and the incorporation of modern materials to improve efficiency and durability.

The watch features a 39mm platinum case that exudes vintage elegance. Its deep blue dial, crafted from Lapis Lazuli adorned with gold-colored pyrite flecks, evokes a starry night sky, reflecting Zenith's celestial inspiration. A guilloché outer ring with applied white gold markers and a mother-of-pearl seconds subdial at six o'clock complete the sophisticated design. Limited to 160 pieces, the G.F.J. is a collector's dream, seamlessly blending heritage and innovation.

Zenith's 160th Anniversary Collection

Zenith's 160th anniversary collection not only pays tribute to its storied past but also sets the stage for its future direction. By re-engineering historic movements like the Calibre 135 and embracing bold designs in models like the Chronomaster Sport Rainbow, Zenith demonstrates a commitment to innovation while honoring its heritage. These timepieces reflect the brand's dedication to precision, craftsmanship, and the seamless integration of tradition and modernity.

As Zenith continues to evolve, its focus on creating exclusive, high-end models suggests a strategic move towards catering to discerning collectors and enthusiasts who value both technical ingenuity and aesthetic appeal. The 160th anniversary collection serves as a testament to Zenith's enduring legacy and its vision for the future of horology.

Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton: Architectural Ingenuity

In addition to the G.F.J., Zenith expanded its Defy Skyline collection with the introduction of the Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton. This 42mm timepiece is housed in a robust stainless steel case featuring the line's signature octagonal design with a 12-faceted bezel. The openworked dial reveals the intricacies of the El Primero 3600SK movement, a skeletonized version of the celebrated El Primero 3600.

Available in black and blue tones, the dial showcases geometric cut-outs forming the Zenith "double Z" logo from the 1960s. The watch is paired with a matching steel bracelet and an additional rubber strap, offering versatility for various occasions. Priced at $15,500 USD, the Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton exemplifies the perfect harmony of design and functionality.

Chronomaster Sport Rainbow: A Dazzling Fusion of Sport and Luxury

Zenith also introduced the Chronomaster Sport Rainbow, a bold and colorful addition to its flagship chronograph line. This 41mm timepiece is crafted in 18K white gold and features a bezel set with a full spectrum of rainbow-colored gemstones, complemented by baguette-cut sapphire indices on the black lacquered dial. The subdials maintain Zenith's iconic tri-color palette with shades of blue, dark gray, and silver-gray.

Powered by the El Primero 3600 movement, the Chronomaster Sport Rainbow offers a 60-hour power reserve, ensuring precision and reliability. This watch represents Zenith's move towards more high-end and exclusive models, focusing on glamour and luxury.
