About Pomellato Jewelry

Pomellato was founded in Milan in 1967 and has stayed rooted in the city ever since. The Maison describes its signature style as a tribute to Milan’s goldsmithing heritage: elegant, original and unmistakably Milanese, with a modern yet unconventional beauty drawn from its hometown.

Two things set Pomellato apart from traditional fine jewelers. The first is color. Pomellato built its identity around vibrant colored gemstones – London blue and sky blue topaz, amethyst, prasiolite, tourmaline – cut into soft, faceted shapes and set in generous gold. The second is craft. Pomellato states that every creation remains handcrafted in-house, and that its pieces are finished by hand to achieve the Maison’s characteristic softness.

Pomellato works in 18K gold, most often rose gold, and frequently pairs rose and white gold in a single piece. The house states that it sources 100% responsible gold, and it supports artisan skills through its Pomellato Virtuosi education programme.

History of Pomellato

Milan, 1967. Pomellato was founded in Milan in 1967. In the Maison’s own words, it has pushed the boundaries of iconic style ever since with its vibrant gemstones and contemporary design, and it remains eternally inspired by the city’s creative spirit.

Nudo. Pomellato calls Nudo quintessentially Pomellato and an iconic design of the house. Its idea was to free the gem from the bezel and present the naked splendor of the stone, so the faceted gem sits above the band with nothing framing it. Nudo has since grown from a ring into earrings, pendants and bangles, in Petit, Classic and Maxi sizes, and in pieces paired with diamond pavé.

Iconica. Iconica was created to embody the essence of Pomellato’s design philosophy and to celebrate the Maison’s heritage of Milanese goldsmithing. Pomellato describes it as an anniversary collection of clean lines and rounded, sculptural forms, designed to be stacked, mixed and matched. Newer additions include reversible pendants with diamonds on one side and polished rose gold on the other.

Sabbia. Sabbia, Italian for sand, scatters white, brown and black diamonds across gold in an irregular pavé of varying sizes. Pomellato says each piece requires its own “pavé mapping” and more hours of craftsmanship than conventional setting.

Today. Pomellato describes itself as a leading force for change in the industry, sourcing 100% responsible gold. Through its Pomellato For Women programme and annual International Women’s Day campaign, the house has become a voice for gender equality, diversity and inclusivity.

What is the Pomellato Nudo collection?

Nudo is Pomellato's signature design: a faceted colored gemstone set above the band without a bezel, so the stone is shown 'nude'. At King Jewelers it comes in London blue topaz, sky blue topaz, amethyst, prasiolite and prasiolite with green agate, in Petit, Classic and Maxi sizes, with some pieces adding white diamond pave.

What is the difference between Nudo Petit, Classic and Maxi?

They are the same design at three scales. At King Jewelers a Nudo Petit ring carries a gem of about 4.9 carats, a Nudo Classic ring about 9 carats and a Nudo Maxi ring about 11 to 15 carats. The larger the size, the bolder the stone and the bigger the price.

Iconica is a rose gold collection that Pomellato created as a tribute to its Milanese goldsmithing heritage. It is built from clean lines and rounded, sculptural volumes, and is designed to be stacked and mixed. King Jewelers carries Iconica bracelets, bangles, rings, earrings and pendant necklaces, including reversible pendants with diamonds on one side and polished gold on the other.

What is Pomellato Sabbia?

Sabbia, Italian for sand, is defined by an irregular diamond pave. White, brown and black diamonds of varying sizes are scattered across the gold, and Pomellato says each piece needs its own pave mapping and more hours of setting than conventional pave. King Jewelers carries Sabbia earrings, a ring and a pendant in 18K rose gold.

What gold does Pomellato use?

How much does Pomellato jewelry cost?

At King Jewelers, Pomellato jewelry currently ranges from about $2,150 for a Nudo Petit ring to about $16,450 for a diamond-set Iconica bangle. Prices depend on the size of the gemstone, the gold weight and the diamond content.

How should I care for Pomellato jewelry?

Store each piece separately so gemstones and gold do not scratch one another, and take jewelry off before swimming, exercising or using household cleaners, perfume or lotion. Colored gemstones such as topaz and amethyst can be cleaned gently with warm water and a soft brush. King Jewelers can clean and inspect your Pomellato pieces in Nashville.
