About Marco Bicego Jewelry
Marco Bicego is an Italian fine jewelry house founded in 2000 by designer Marco Bicego, who grew up in his father Giuseppe's goldsmithing workshop in Vicenza, Italy — a region historically known as the country's "City of Gold." Every piece is still entirely handcrafted in the brand's Vicenza atelier, built around two signature techniques passed down from his father: hand-engraving with a traditional tool called the bulino, which gives gold a soft, brushed texture, and hand-twisted gold coils. Working in 18K gold with vibrant colored gemstones, Bicego draws inspiration from nature and the places he's traveled — from Marrakech to Jaipur — creating jewelry designed to be worn every day rather than saved for special occasions. King Jewelers is proud to carry Marco Bicego for customers who want genuinely handmade Italian craftsmanship with a distinctive, wearable style.
History of Marco Bicego
Marco Bicego's story begins in 1958, when his father, Giuseppe Bicego, founded a small gold chain workshop in Trissino, in Italy's Vicenza province — a region long recognized as one of the world's centers of fine goldsmithing. Marco spent his childhood summers at his father's atelier, watching the craftsmen work and trying his hand at jewelry-making himself, before formally apprenticing under his father to learn the trade. In 2000, after years immersed in the family business, Marco launched his own eponymous collection, building on his father's techniques while developing a bolder, more contemporary design language. One of the brand's signature techniques, the hand-twisted gold coil, was born from a happy accident in his father's factory, when a machine malfunction twisted a strand of gold thread and sparked the idea for what would become one of Marco Bicego's defining design elements. Paired with hand-engraving using the centuries-old bulino tool, these techniques remain at the heart of every Marco Bicego piece today. Drawing inspiration from nature and his travels to places like Marrakech, Jaipur, and Africa, Bicego has built his brand around the idea of "everyday luxury" — jewelry meant to be worn and lived in, not locked away. Every piece is still entirely handcrafted by goldsmiths in the company's Vicenza workshop, carrying forward more than six decades of family goldsmithing tradition.
