Venezianico Nereide Information and FAQ

About the Venezianico Nereide

The Nereide takes its name from the Nereide submarine of 1919, one of the last marvels of Venetian naval technology, and it is built to the same idea: a watch designed to withstand strong stresses and suited to water sports. The 42mm case is 316L stainless steel, 49mm lug to lug, with a rotating 120-click bezel, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and BGW9 Super-LumiNova®. The 39mm Nereide trims the case to 45.5mm lug to lug and as little as 10.5mm thick.

Inside are the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 on the stone and artisan dials, the Miyota 9039 on the Tungsteno and Acquaforte, the Miyota 9075 on the GMT, and the NH35A and NH70A on the Nereide 42 and Ultraleggero. Most are rated to 200 meters; the GMT is rated to 100 meters and the Titanio to 300 meters. Bracelets are Venezianico's Canova or Sansovino in steel, alongside Italian rubber and leather straps.

History of the Venezianico Nereide

The Nereide is the collection where Venezianico tells Venice's story through materials. Its aventurine dial uses a glass invented in Venice in the 17th century. Turquoise, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli and malachite recall the gemstones and trade routes that ran through the city, the Verdigris dial is oxidized and flamed to reproduce the green patina of Venetian copper domes, and the Titanio is inspired by the statue of Atlas in the courtyard of the Doge's Palace. The Ultraleggero, inspired by the Vitruvian Man, has a patented three-level skeletonized dial, and the Nereide GMT, inspired by early 20th-century transoceanic routes and the Grand Tour, adds a True GMT movement in a 39mm case.

Is the Venezianico Nereide a real dive watch?

Yes. Most Nereide models are water resistant to 200 meters with a rotating 120-click bezel, sapphire crystal and BGW9 Super-LumiNova, and several have a screw-down crown. The Nereide Titanio is rated to 300 meters. The Nereide GMT is rated to 100 meters and uses a 24-click GMT bezel instead of a dive bezel.

What size is the Venezianico Nereide?

The Nereide comes in 42mm, 49mm lug to lug, and 39mm, 45.5mm lug to lug. The 42mm is 11.8mm to 13.4mm thick depending on the movement, and the 39mm Tungsteno is just 10.5mm thick.

Which Nereide models have a Swiss movement?

The 42mm Avventurina, Aureo, Damasco, Turchese, Verdigris, Tigris, Malachite, Lapislazzuli, Titanio and both Ceramica models use the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic. The Tungsteno and Acquaforte use the Miyota 9039, the GMT models the Miyota 9075, and the Nereide 42 and Ultraleggero the NH35A and NH70A.

What is the difference between the Nereide GMT 39 and GMT Grand Tour?

Both use the Miyota 9075 True GMT in a 39mm case 11.9mm thick, rated to 100 meters. The GMT 39 has a blue dial, BK7 crystal bezel and steel Sansovino bracelet. The Grand Tour has a gray dial, tungsten bezel insert and 5N rose gold IP accents on the case and Canova bracelet.

Are the Nereide stone dials real stone?

Yes. The Turchese, Tigris, Malachite and Lapislazzuli use natural turquoise, tiger's eye, malachite and lapis lazuli, and the Tigris uses a 0.4mm stone disc on a brass base. Because the stone is natural, the pattern on each dial is unique.

How much is a Venezianico Nereide?

At King Jewelers the Nereide ranges from $750 for the Nereide 42 to $1,495 for the Aureo, Damasco, Tigris and Malachite. The GMT models and Ceramica are $1,150.

Does King Jewelers sell authentic, warrantied Venezianico Nereide watches?

Yes. King Jewelers is an authorized Venezianico retailer, so every Nereide is brand new, authentic and covered by Venezianico's two-year international warranty from the date of delivery.
